Dominican Nuns              Bronx, New York

"By the labor of your hands you shall eat." The Dominican nun sees her work not as mere labor but as a means of building up the Church and serving her sisters. The monastery helps to support itself by distributing communion hosts to churches. Through donations, benefactors contribute and collaborate in the life of the nuns.

Sisters work in various jobs of service in the monastery, from the prioress (superior) who oversees the spiritual and material needs of the community, to the novice mistress, who trains young sisters, to the sacristan who prepares for the liturgy, and to the extern (outside) sister who greets visitors and takes care of the exterior business of the monastery.
Sr. Marie, Sr. Mary of the Sacred Heart and Sr. Mary Michael work on the liturgical music for the week.
